*From PRADA to NADA*

It's easier to ask, what is a friend, than to ask what a friend is not. Why? Because if we have a checklist on what a friend is not, we might end up pointing a few fingers to ourselves...
Oprah Winfrey said: "Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."
This, to me, is the ultimate criteria according to which we must not only test our friends, but also according to which we should test ourselves. You see, it's easy to say that you will always be there for one another, but when push comes to shove, it's a whole different story. Sometimes our friendship goes from Prada to Nada. From something wonderful, expensive and valuable to something that has no worth at all.
A lot of times friends are only there in the good times, but when the bad times strike, they are nowhere to be found. When the Prada fades away, or the limo breaks down, it's a good time to start looking who stays behind. Most of the time it's the person you least expected that stays behind, that helps and supports you. We all know those friends, and maybe somewhere in our own lives we were that friend, maybe you still are. You're only in it for the perks you can get out of it.
The sad thing though, is that sometimes this is exactly the way we treat God. We're only "in it" for the blessings and prosperity and status, but God is actually "in it" for the long run. He sits next to you in the limo and He sits next to you in the bus, He is always there (Hebrews 13:5). We love God when He blesses us and when thingss are going good in our lives we praise Him, but when the desert strikes we question Him and blame Him.
From Prada to Nada is a modern term for what happened to Job in the Bible. We all know the story. Job is a man who is wise, rich, and good. Then suddenly terrible things happen to him. His ten children are killed. He loses all his wealth. And he becomes ill with a painful skin disease.
My advice to you is, discern between your friends, and ask God to help you so that you may know whom of your friends are Prada friends (friends who only "hang out" with you for what you have) and whom are nada friends (friends who "stick" with you when you have nothing).
My question to you is, are you a Prada friend of God (you only praise Him when you are in a good season) or are you a nada friend of God (you praise Him in the good season AND even more in the desert season)?
