Always be thankful!
All of us have heard the words:
BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU'VE GOT, THERE'S OTHER PEOPLE THAT
WISHES FOR THE THINGS YOU TAKE FOR GRANTED
and some of us hear it a lot more than others. Some hear is once or twice, others hear it daily.
How many times (a day) do you take something for granted? How many times (a day) do you get mad because you can't get the cellphone you want or that pretty dress in the window of you favorite shop? How many times (a day) do you want more than what you've got?
Well, let me tell you this, there's people out in the world that has got nothing and would take just half (maybe even quarter) of what you've got. That may not be much for you, but to them, it means the world. They'll be thankful for the little things that we take for granted.
A while back, I visited a camp where people that lost EVERYTHING in life, live. We took them a bit of food, some colddrink and sweets for the kids. We got two hairdressers that volunteered to do their hair (wash, cut and dry).
Some of the women helped with the wash and dry of the hair, while the hairdressers cut it. Another group of women helped the kids make their own toys out of things we take as trash. Some of the men made boerewors rolls. I read out of the Bible and prayed for them. For all of this (which is not much) they were more thankful than we are with a lot of things. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to put photo's of them on here (or anywhere for that matter), so I got some pics that has something to do with that: but I will put on some of the photo's of their homes, just so that you can see what condtions these people live in and what you have to be thankful for:
|
1. Their bathroom (where they shower - every one has to share):
2. Their toilets (at least there's one for women and one for men):
3. Their homes (it's literally just a place to sleep - some of these "huts" have to contain 2 families of four people; that's eigth people in one SMALL "hut"):

So, next time you're not thankful for something, think about the less fortunate.
I'm not only talking to you, but to myself as well.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 - Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
